HERE ARE JUST TWO MORE EXAMPLES OF TOOTEES QUALITY AND INNOVATION IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN OF SUPERIOR DRAGCRAFT.
WHAT
SOME say was " The Baddest of the Bad" No.17
THE
GAFFNEY HEAVIES. BACKGROUND...The
Camaro below "Heavy Hitter" was brother Earl's ride, and
was the second in the series. The burgundy Nova first in the group,
(see below) is "Papa Smurf" and was truly a terror, some
partial stats are below the picture. The Beretta was number three,
and was a winner with Ronnie Hood at the controls. The white Nova #4,
the first of the long cars in Pro Mod which deviated from the
standard Pro Stock model was undefeated with Hood at the controls
until it was sold. Its still racing now with Sal
Passarelli at
the controls as a nitro coupe.

front wheel through the lights like that?"
At a 2 day Quick 8 open show at
Darlington where 20 Pro Mod cars participated, the "Papa
Smurf" Nova was the winner and the "Heavy Hitter"
Camaro was the runner up.
At a 2 day quick 8 open show at
Shuffeltown, with 2 races, one on Saturday, and one on Sunday, open
to the quickest 8 hitters, paying $2,000.00 to win. "Papa
Smurf" won Saturday and Sunday.
Many booked in "high
stakes" races were scheduled in the New York or New Jersey
area for "Papa Smurf". When the Nova got to the
track, the competitor's backed out and gave up the punk out money
rather than face this car. "Papa Smurf" never
had to be unloaded.
The plain truth was this car, with
Sonny Leonard power, was the "Black Angel of Death" to
those who had the misfortune of being staged up in the other lane.
The quick 8 racing in ORANGEBURG dried up for a time, and people
stopped coming to the races because "no one could beat this car".
