PM Scott Weis starts this session out with a single. This is his
first pass in competition since moving up to the nitro-floppers from Federal-Mogul
Funny Car. This was a good looking pass, launched hard and straight
as a string. So says NHRA on-line. Scott is off to a good start and
winds up No. 18 after the last session.

Congratulations
To
Scott
Weis on his Record setting performance in the1998 IHRA funny car
series 5.74@ 242
FLASH...Scott
Weis runs 5.82@242.82 M.P.H. at STANTON MICH. and on his first
qualifying pass at the next race at NORWALK OHIO Scott goes 5.74 at a
shut off 241 mph with a 1/8 mile speed of 202 mph ! this resets his
own 2 week old record pass at Stanton.
Congratulations!
Scott wins the Northern Nationals
and resets both ends of the record for IHRA funny car.
Scott
storms through eliminations with consistent runs in the 5.80s to
lower the MPH and ET records in route to winning the race, this is
the second year that Scott has been able to win races and set records
and we here at TOOTEES RACE CARS are proud to be associated
with Scott and his family. This record setting quality is what keeps
Scott in a TOOTEES chassis.
Update: Epping, N.H.,
After being hit with the 2.90 gear and the spoiler rule, Scott and
the team have to re-dial the combination and get in at the no. 4 spot
with a 5.97. Scott advances to the
second round, but when the call comes the starter dog breaks off and
the starter will not engage so its back to the barn for the day.
However we are honored with the Best Engineered Pro Car Award. We
here at TOOTEES are grateful for the recognition of our work.
